COMPACT FLUORESCENT BULBS

BACK

Switch all your bulbs now (don’t wait for the old ones to burn out),
and save about $30 per bulb, and decrease the emission of global
warming gases.  Switching bulbs will also decrease mercury
contamination in the environment because the largest source of mercury
contamination in the United States is the burning of coal for
electricity. Australia has passed legislation banning the sale of
regular light bulbs starting in the year 2010.

You can read about compact fluorescent bulbs on the sites of
organizations supporting compact fluorescent bulb campaigns (such as
www.onebillionbulbs.com), and also on the Sierra Club or National Resources
Defense Council sites (see links on this site). Mother Earth News
(www.motherearthnews.com) has a wonderful detailed article on home
lighting from their April/May 2007 issue.
