Cut Down on Plastic Water Bottles

Keep cool with refillable bottles

Fox Hutt refills her machine washable glass “tea” bottles with water

In the summer, judging by the plastic water bottles in the trash and at the recycling center, many of us go through these, well, like water. You can save lots of money and decrease greenhouse gas emissions by filling your own bottles.
By using local tap water (filter it if you want) and refillable bottles, you  do several good deeds. You decrease the amount of oil we import to make the bottles and transport the bottled water. Most important, you prevent the carbon dioxide emissions that would have been caused by trucks transporting the bottled water. Carbon dioxide emissions are a main cause of global warming.
